Bill Voth decided in 7th grade he was going to be a sports broadcaster. For 20 years, he worked toward and achieved that dream. But something happened along the way: The media landscape changed rapidly. Voth realized years ago that social media was quickly gaining ground on traditional media. His tweets from a practice at 11 a.m. would be old news by the time he was anchoring the sports at 11 p.m. That was one of the sparks which made Voth start thinking in a brand new way.
Teams, athletic departments, athletes and businesses have used Voth’s advice to use their social media platforms more effectively. Through proper training and an “always there, always plugged-in” philosophy, Voth has built strong relationships with clients.
“Whether you’re an individual or a business, you are your own brand. It’s like you’re a big piece of clay and now, through social media, you can mold your image in the way you see fit,” says Voth.
Voth graduated cum laude from the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University. He and his wife Gretchen live in Huntersville with their two dogs, Chester and Toby.
Jarod Latch is a graduate of Walsh University where he received a bachelor's degree in corporate communication. He has spent the last 11 years working in radio and television, most recently as a sports anchor and reporter in Charlotte, N.C.
As an intern in the nation’s capital as a senior, Latch covered events at both the White House and Capitol as he learned firsthand the importance of connecting and communicating. After graduation, he took his first job in television at WJAC-TV in Johnsown, Pa. While there, he was a part of evolving technology that included preparing reports for digital media and later social media.
“It’s where things are headed to stay. Social Media and digital mediums aren’t going anywhere. I am sure that a lot of people are apprehensive because it’s new, but soon it’s going to be the standard for communication in just about every area.”
Latch still dabbles in broadcasting and is a head instructor at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting’s campus in Charlotte.
